Abstract Study on tourist flow is important to tourism marketing management.Under the help of the Database software Visual Foxpro statistical analysis is made on the 2-year investigation of U. S. and Canadian visitors to and out of Xi'an.The spatial movement mode of U. S. and Canadian visitors between Xi'an and other hot tourist cities in China is found to be unbalanced, with its main flow between Xi'an and Beijing, Shanghai. The major reasons for this should be the role Beijing and Shanghai play as entry and exit ports for U. S. and Canadian visitors and the current sightseeing routes sold to them. Finally, three suggestions are given.
