Abstract Having the characteristics of diversity,instability,and regional transition,the man-environment or nature-society relationship in the North-eastern border of the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas are worth to be studied. Referred to the achievement of quaternary research,especially based on the synthes is analysis of historical data and document,this paper discussed the characteristics,cause,and law in the historical transformation of man-environment relationship in the studied areas. It also put forward three modes of man-environment interact. Main conclusions are drawn as follows:①The style of man environment relationship in the studied area experienced four big changes,caused by climatic fluctuation,growth in population,technological advance and changes of residents' productivity-farming or husbandry.②The characteristic of man environment relationship is instability,undulation and diversity.③"Location external motivate" is the basic mode of man-environment relationship's development.
