THOUGHTS ON REGIONAL ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE |

Abstract The author has formed some thoughts on Regional Economic Geography from the practice for a half of century. He has made several achievements to the development of Regional Economic Geography, and also accumulated practical experience for tens of years. The author learned from the famous economic geographers of the former Soviet Union in the midst of 1950's. Then he wrote the paper of "disserting to the development tendency of economic geography" at the "Geography Transaction" at the beginning of the 1960s and put forward three viewpoints-the relationship of human and land, production collocation, economical programming and region. In 1980s and 1990s he studied some bookmakings on the regional economic geography and started the researches of systemic theory. By the practice more than half of a century, the author went into the regional economic geography deeply, and also contributed in geographic subject. Experiences of several decades he had accumulated have inspired of young scholars. The author deemed it must band study and criticism together into the theory deeply. What is the most profound principle to the author is combined theory to practice tightly, regional economic geography is a basic instrumental subject to the extensive regional problem. The regional practice is the source of the subject theory school. The important contributions to the regional economic geography of the author are as follows:(1)he was the first man who put forward the conception of "regional economic geography" in domestic and abroad, set up the theoretical curriculums of the regional economical geography.(2)primarily forming the system info of the regional economical geography.(3)Illustrating the relation and differentiate of the regional economical geography and regional economics.(4)Innovating the study of the regional condition and system types.(5)Enrich the theory and content of the regional economic geography through the practice. What the author has learned is as follow:(1)Diligence and opportunity is the power source of the author's progress.(2)He is not only trusting his competence, but also recognizing his scarcity.(3)Learning knowledge and being an upright person are supplement each other.(4)His students' success and advancements are his greatest delights.
