Abstract  Currently, the study on the follow-up utilization of Shanghai EXPO Park merely concentrates on the following aspects:the necessity, the principles, the affecting factors and affecting modes of the follow-up utilization. Such researches are all skin-deep and only focuse on theoretic study. In particular, the introduced utilization methods of Shanghai EXPO Park are stereotyped models lacking novelty and profound insight due to these reasons:first of all, the comprehensive plan of Shanghai EXPO was just completed before long; what's more, the frameworks of the participating countries' sites are lagged behind; and finally, holding the EXPO involves not only financial problems, but also political issues. Therefore, many scholars and researchers seem to avoid offering any ideas about the detailed implementing approaches of the follow-up utilization of Shanghai EXPO Park. Based on the former studies, the thesis defines the follow-up utilization of the EXPO Park into three levels:first, the follow-up utilization of tangible resources; secondly, the redevelopment of land; thirdly, the intangible resources as how to further develop the newly-built infrastructure and service facilities. As for the follow-up utilization of the tangible resources, the thesis makes a detailed illustration with reference to the EXPO Site Framework Program. The issue of the reuse of the land can be affected by many determinants and can surely lead to some uncertainty. Therefore, the thesis puts forward the principle ideas and the directions of the reuse of the land on the basis of Eleventh Five-Year Plan of Shanghai Development and the theme of Shanghai EXPO 2010. The way-out of the follow-up utilization of Shanghai EXPO Park should be centered on how to construct Shanghai to be the Four Centers; how to further develop Shanghai's tourism to strengthen the city's economy as a perpetual and important initiative for the development of Shanghai. It is expected that the achievement of this research might provide theoretical support for the policy decision of the concerned administrative sections.
