Abstract  As the dominant natural component and primary producer, the urban green land has an important role on improving environmental quality, regulating the balance of urban ecosystem and maintaining ecological security. However, the ecological functions of the urban green land has a closed relation with its landscape structure and pattern when the percentage of green land coverage is less than 40%, so the study on the landscape structure and pattern of the urban green land is very important in building the scientific urban greens system and play its ecological role fully.
The paper analyzes the urban greening landscape structure and pattern in Xuzhou city using the structure of green space, the landscape diversity, the landscape dominance, the landscape evenness, the patch density, the landscape fragmentation, the nearest neighbor index and the landscape cohesion. The object is to provide the foundation to build the scientific urban greens system and play its ecological role fully in Xuzhou city. At the same time, the study can provide comprehensive method to research the urban greens landscape structure and Pattern. The result shows that, the distribution of the urban Green land is disproportional, there are more green land in the southern of the city but in the northern, the green land is less, the structure of the urban green land isn't reasonable, the scenic forest and the public park are the dominant greens types, the green land is dominated by small patches and the landscape fragmentation is higher which is not favorable for providing more habitats to support the species diversity, the green corridor density and the landscape cohesion is smaller which is not benefit to flow among the species.
At last, the corresponding strategies were put forward such as building more public parks, green buffers and the unit attached green spaces especially in the northern of the city, increasing the proportion of the large patches and decreasing the landscape fragmentation, building more green corridors along the rivers and roads to increase the green corridor density and landscape cohesion which have important role on preserving species diversity and keeping the landscape diversity.
