STUDY ON THE SPATIAL PROCESS AND DYNAMIC MECHANISM OF TOURISM URBANIZATION: A CASE STUDY OF THE HUANGSHUI TOWN IN CHONGQING CITY, CHINA

Abstract This study takes Huangshui Town in Chongqing city as an example, based on the GIS spatial analysis method, to study the spatial process of tourism urbanization in Huangshui Town since 2004, and reveal its dynamic mechanism. The results are as follows:1) The spatial process in Huangshui Town can be divided into three stages:The tourism function promotion of traditional community, the holiday function expansion of the second home, and the comprehensive function support of various leisure groups. 2) The main direction of land use transfer is residential land, especially the second home. The tourism commercial service land has also accelerated their growth, and the traditional commercial service land has expanded slightly. In space, traditional commercial service land gather along the old streets, tourism commercial service land mainly gather along the new streets. 3) Tourism urbanization is essentially the result of repeated game between different stakeholders such as tourists, governments, residents, and enterprises. This study also shows that the tourism urbanization represented by Huangshui Town is an ideal pattern, which is based on the "local and nearby" urbanization, to realize a "spontaneous" cultural protection and inheritance, by establishing a "co-construction and sharing" collaborative governance system, to form a "Opening type" tourism pattern.
