Abstract  From the perspective of the coupling of tourist demand and regional economic supply, this paper explores the spatial relationship between distributive superiority and economic efficiency, so as to deepen the theory and practice of regional tourism organization and optimization. Taking China's provincial inbound tourism flow as the research object, this paper first constructed a coupling coordination model of distribution superiority and tourism economic efficiency. Then analyzed the coupling coordination degree level, coupling coordination type and spatiotemporal evolution path of "superiority and efficiency" of each province in 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2016. The results show that:1) The regional differences between the distribution superiority of inbound tourism flow and the tourism economic efficiency have undergone drastic adjustment. 2) In terms of spatial structure, the former changes from U-shaped structure to scatter structure, while the latter tends to form a S-shaped pattern. 3) The overall level of "superiority and efficiency" coupling coordination degree in China has declined, and the coordination level is intermediate coordination. 4) The "superiority and efficiency" coupling coordination type is constantly transforming, showing a differentiated time evolution path. This study deeply explores the spatial coupling relationship between inbound tourism flow system and regional tourism economic system, which lays a foundation for exploring the driving mechanism and optimization mode behind the change of their spatial pattern; the quantitative method of coupling coordination type and time path provides a powerful tool for dissecting the dynamic collaborative relationship. The combined intervention strategy should be taken to improve the impact of environment on public health.
