Abstract  The sustainable and stable growth of farmers' income is important to further consolidate the results of poverty alleviation areas and achieve rural revitalization in poverty alleviation areas. This paper constructs an analytical framework for farmers' income growth based on theoretical analysis, uses data from 80 counties in rocky desert poverty alleviation areas to measure farmers' income growth impetus and its combined relationship with the Weaver-Thomas model, and uses the grey correlation model to verify the correlation between the structure of farmers' income growth impetus and its stability with the level and growth rate of farmers' income, and then explore the spatiotemporal development characteristics of farmers' income growth impetus in the study area. The study shows that:1) The growth of farmers' income is driven by five types of factors, including the development of non-agricultural industries, the development of agricultural industries, capital investment, infrastructure, public services, and so on. 2) There is a significant positive correlation between the share of the main drivers of farm income growth and the level of farm income. 3) There is a significant negative correlation between the stability of the driving structure of farm income growth and the growth rate of farm income. 4) There is spatiotemporal heterogeneity in the structure of farm income growth impulses within a given geographical area.
