Abstract Accordion to the authors' practice in the design and development of decision supporting system for real estate investment, this paper revealed that the developing object of real estate investment supporting system must provide the present and change predicting information of the developing project and its market as well as the strategies, and measures that should be adopted by project to the investors. The system's function structure is made up of three professional functions:market analysis; calculation, analysis and evaluation of the project/scheme's development and management; and comparing and deciding analysis of the project/scheme; as well as the assistant functions:maintain, initiation and result output of the system. All the functions can be further divided into diverse function subsystems and model items. The system's datum has the characteristics of divers types, multi-collection and concentric and automatic disposal, and the system's operation with the features of independence, repetition, entirety and connection, and the system's analyzing and deciding models and their parameters and standards with characteristics of universality and variability. The design of the system consists of datum management design, model design and input-output design. The datum management design is very important to the development and design of the real estate development and decision supporting system, designed scientifically or not will directly connect with the success and failure of the whole system's design. The content of datum management design includes mainly the division of primary and secondary datum document and the design of datum document's structure, key items, substitution codes and datum dictionary. System's models are the core for the real estate development and decision supporting system, as well as the difficulty and key for the system's design. The content of model's design is mainly the determination of the expressing method for models, the language for procedure compilation and the method for model bank management. The system's input-output should be intensively designed respectively by input and output, for the real estate development and decision supporting system with the large and frequent datum input and output. Finally, according to the development of real estate investing decision practice and related professional computer software, this paper puts forward the direction of the system's function and version improvement in the future.
