Abstract Urban form is one of the major research parts in urban geography since early 20th century.But it is studied as a kind of landscape and belonges to static research.In this paper, we study city form as dynamic phenomena, which include spatial direction of urban expansion and spatial difference of urban expansion, supported by remote sensing and geographic information system.Moreover, we build spatial model of urban expansion that is used to predict urban development scale and direction in the future.
