Abstract Mass transportation is the radical way of solving urban traffic problems and the necessary choice of sustainable development of urban public transportation.On the basis of theory of sustainble development and present situation of urban public transportation, this paper puts forward the direction and principles of sustainable development of urban public transportation, discusses the countermeasures that can realize the sustainable development of urban public transportation.
