Abstract  The release of Outline for National Tourism and Leisure(2013-2020) created a good opportunity for leisure studies and provided more urgent and practical significance for the studies regarding enhancing the quality of national leisure which was the mainline of the report. The most fundamental index measuring the quality of national leisure was residents' satisfaction toward their own leisure life.Based on existing literatures and the proposals of experts, this paper built a structural equation model regarding leisure life satisfaction included five variables and nine paths and the five variables were leisure life satisfaction, leisure activity satisfaction, frequency of participating different types of recreational activities, leisure time as well as leisure skill. The model achieved good fitting effect after modified. The results showed that leisure time, frequency of leisure participation and leisure activity satisfaction all had a positive effect on leisure life satisfaction, in which path coefficients was 0.292 and total effect was 0.471 of leisure time to leisure life satisfaction, and path coefficients and total effect of frequency of leisure participation were 0.358 and 0.382. Relatively speaking, leisure activity satisfaction had the smallest influence on leisure life satisfaction and total effect was 0.107. Leisure time had a positive impact on leisure skill and frequency of leisure participation, total effect were 0.182and 0.482. Leisure time had a directly and certainly negative effect on leisure activity satisfaction. On the basis of total effect, since leisure time had a greater positive impact on leisure skill and frequency of leisure participation, and leisure skill and frequency of leisure participation had a greater positive effect on leisure life satisfaction, leisure time had a slightly positive effect on leisure activity satisfaction(total effect was 0.064). Thus different views of the existing literatures could be explained by the study. Leisure skill has a directly positive effect on frequency of leisure participation and path coefficients were 0.638.
