CHARACTERISTICS OF EVOLUTION AND DIFFERENCES OF THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION AMONG DIFFERENT TYPES OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN NANJING |

Abstract As an emerging industry, creative industry has got a rapid and steady development in recent years. It is becoming a new and significant driving force of urban development gradually. The study of features of spatial distribution and evolution of creative industry has important practical significance in the guidance of active development in creative industry. This study takes creative industry in Nanjing for example, which has been classified into four types, acquired 732 samples of registered enterprises, in which there are 80 samples in artistic creative enterprises, 410 samples in creative design enterprises, 47 samples in digital creation enterprises and 195 samples in media enterprises. This study has given several conclusions. Firstly, it has shown a gathering trend of the enterprises of Nanjing creative industry in general, and the agglomeration center is deeply consistent with the urban center. Meanwhile, there is a outward diffusion along the main urban axis which is North Zhongshan road and Zhongshan road. Secondly, the evolution of spatial distribution of the four types of creative industry have all experienced a trend that is from the original spots to the concentric gathering, and then extended along the axis or surface. Third, the primary gathering area of all types of creative industry are formed spontaneously, in which most of the developed and large enterprises have gathered, while most of the developing enterprises, small and medium-size enterprises or emerging enterprises are gathering in industrial parks with preferential policies, which have formed new spots. Lastly, there exists differences in the characteristics of the spatial distributions and evolutions of four types of creative industry.
