Abstract Established from the Xia Dynasty to the first Opium War nearly four thousand years of ancient Chinese society, under the influence of leisure by the social system, development of productive forces, scientific and technological level, culture and religion, leisure activities are constantly changing. The paper analyzes the evolution of ancient Chinese leisure activities form leisure social class, leisure content, leisure space, and summarizes evolution and causes of ancient Chinese leisure activities from "people-time-space" three-dimensional coordinate changes. The reason is mainly because of the identity, economic, cultural and policy differences during the different times. Among them, the people is fundamental factor of evolution, and time is an objective frame of reference, space is caused changes by people and time changes and lead to change in the content that leisure. In ancient society, despite the variety of leisure activities, but a variety of activities almost did not develop into modern forms of mass leisure. On the contrary, in the long history of ancient China, although the ancient leisure activities change a lot, huge class differences had never changed. In short, under different social systems of different classes of people of different dynasties, access to the leisure resources, leisure activities and leisure space are different. In ancient Chinese society, although there are a variety of leisure activities, these colorful events are almost not able to develop into modern forms of mass leisure. In contrast, in the long history of ancient China, although the ancient leisure activities have undergone many changes, the phenomenon of the huge class differences had never changed. In short, under different social systems of different classes of people of different dynasties, access to recreational resources are different, leisure activities are different, leisure space range is also different. Today, leisure has become a fundamental right of the people and way of life, and gradually realizes the casual popularity. Leisure industry has developed into an important pillar of the national economy.
