Abstract:This paper examines the development of human geographical sciences from the viewpoint of social reform. It Points out that the limitations of the treditional method of thinking stem from the operational characteristics of traditional society, that the great social reform ushers in a new moment for the change of method of thinking in human geography and that the new method of thinking is embodied in the establishment of the prominent position of the positive approaeh, the separation of the normative approach from the positive approach, the strengthening of theoretical research on the intermediate level, the intensification of the participating ablity, the multifacetedness of the objects and aims of service, the significance of policy research and the enlargement and development of the scope of research.
