Abstract:From the angle of modern hermeneutics, the author points out that 《Shanhaijing》(the book of mountains and seas) was finished earlier than that of 《Shangshu Yugong》(Discussion on the Tribute of Yu). Meanwhile he demonstrates not only why this book is an sorcery's encyclopedia of primitive society, but its charateristics as a sorcerer's reference books with material taken from various source and arranged according to subjycts.
With a new and Original Conclusion, the discuss in this article is obviously different to those in general history of geography.
