Abstract：With the globalization of the world economy and trade development, container transportation, as one of today's most advanced cargo transportation modes, is growing rapidly. Especially in the Yangtze Delta, with the most vigorous and the export-oriented economy, the growth of the container ports keeps with a rapid pace in recent years and there is a great competition upon the hinterland and container traffic among these ports. The paper introduces the current situation of the ports expansion in the region, sets forth the container generation and transportation of Zhejiang Province, the common direct hinterland for Shanghai and Ningbo Port, introduces the concept of the market location quotient to analyze the container attraction of the two ports.
