Abstract:The sea-land connect belt in the east of Jiangsu Province is the area of transition zone that lies between the east China sea and the east China, and is a typical sea-land connect belt. Influenced by the Yellow River and the humanity for a long time in history, the ecosystem vulnerability of this region is remarkable, and the problems of resources and environment are extremely serious. Yancheng is located at the middle of the sea-land connect belt in the east of Jiangsu Province. The ecological footprint of its connect belt is calculated, and its dynamic changes are analyzed in this essay, and the result shows that, during 1996-2003, the ecological footprint per person and the ecological deficit tend to increase while the ecological footprint per ten thousand yuan GDP tends to decrease. Therefore, in order to realize the sustainable development of local economy, society and ecological environment, some major countermeasures of reducing ecological deficit should be adopt positively, such as controlling the population quantity, developing the resource conservation economy, raising the agriculture labor rate, strengthening to the resources and the environment management and protection, etc.
