Abstract:Human Geography contains different disciplines such as arts,science and engineering. It is also a kind of science emphasizing great geographical diversity. Contemporary 150 Chinese universities have set the program of human geography, in which not only general universities but also many professional colleges take a certain amount. Based on different histories, teachers background, local social demands, there are a number of different curriculum systems of human geography existed. Recent years, a new round of reform of undergraduate education and teaching program adjustments be started in Sun Yat-sen University(SYSU). Based on the practices and the experiences, this paper investigate the teaching curriculums of human geography in several universities, compare the differences in curriculums with home and abroad universities, such as University of Cambridge, Oxford, University of Chicago, University of Tokyo, National Taiwan University, University of Hong Kong, Beijing University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Beijing Normal University. Then, combine the historical tradition and the employment situation, put forward a reform program of the undergraduate curriculum system in Sun Yat-sen University, which aims to strengthen the learning and teaching groundwork so that to build up a strong curriculum system. In particular, learning practice is given profound attention. The basic rules of teaching reform are "highlight the advantages, resource sharing, reflect personalities, and re-adjustment the teaching system". This paper reviews previous research on reform of teaching and its practice; the experience will not only shed light on further reform of teaching at SYSU, but also contribute to fellow members devoting to the new round of reform in regard to Human Geography.
