ON THE TERTIARIZATION IN THE POSTINDUSTRIAL SOCIETY

Abstract

Tertiarization, or the transformation from commodity economy to service economy, has become a significant economic feature in the developed countries and is diffusing to the mid developed countries. This transformation includes not only the quantity expansion of service activities both in tertiary industries and in other industries especially in manufactures, but also include the quality upgrade of service activities focused on the growth of information services. Tertiarization does not mean the end of industrialization, but does made a great effort in the growth and upgrade of manufactures. Services have become a vital factor for the development of manufactures and the whole economy in the postindustrial society. Although China is generally under the way of industrialization, the growth of services center is emerging in some coastal metropolis. More attention is worth giving to the study of tertiarization and the deveelopment of services.
