Abstract In this paper, current situations of the cities in the Arid Land of Northwestern China are discussed, its main issues in border areas are systematically analyzed, the sustainable developmental objectives and countermeasures correspondingly according to the demand of coordinate development of cities in Northwestern China are proposed.
