Abstract This paper briefly reviews the development and status quo of quantitative methods in geography,reconsiders quantitative geography in a serious scientific attitude and introduces the status quo and application of the Geocomputation,which is the newest development of quantitative geography in the 1990's. The basic purpose of the paper is to start and put a development of Geocomputation forward in China.
