Abstract  This paper summarizes the debate on and recent development of urban growth policy in China.Based on the example of his research centered on urban growth policy in China all these years, the author argues that human geography studies definitely are able to contribute to the formulation of national policies.The author's experiences include:①facing the problems courageously;②attaining sound viewpoints through thorough studies;③sticking it out and not being afraid of being on the bench for long.
