Abstract Updating of the Pearl River waterfront made a great influence in community, economic growing and landscape renewal in Guangzhou. Through drawing lessons from foreign countries and our country, the paper summarized the updating stages and different development patterns of waterfront. It proposed the multi-level updating idea of the Pearl River waterfront, and discussed the pattern of interior renewal with expanding to outside unifies, the government and the privately operated cooperation. In conclusion, the strategy of the Pearl River waterfront and the frame of redevelopment of the Pearl River were drawn up.
