Abstract

Nowadays, sciences and technology in many fields have got rapid development, we should catch the opportunity, make good use of the modern science and technology, survey geography with new perspective of ontology and post-modernism, make epistemology breakthroughs and innovation of methodology in geography to meet new needs. Based on philosophy, the paper discusses several questions of the development of geography with new perspective of ontology and post-modernism. Considering the pluralism characteristics of ontology of geography, the studies on geography should be performed under more than one epistemology and methodology. Post-modernism is a new philosophy in western countries and have a very important impact in almost every field and is the symbol of the veer of the western philosophy. From the day post-modernism was born, it has had a great and abroad impact on every field of the society, so it is of directive importance for the development of geographical science in the respect of theory.
