Abstract This paper summarizes the regional tourism cooperation study in China since 1990s. Firstly, the author carries on the category analysis of literatures, which includes the periodical types, the author's academic background and the work units. According to the empirical study on the administrative regions, the author analyzes the spatial structure of the literature and draws two spatial structure features:agglomeration and gradient. Secondly, based on the regional tourism cooperation concept, theoretical foundation, cooperation pattern and the spatial organization, the paper makes a summary of literatures on the regional tourism cooperation study. Specifically, the paper elaborates the regional tourism cooperation patterns from the point of view of the mechanism, which includes collaborative pattern, competitive-cooperative pattern, linkage pattern, interactive pattern and union pattern. Then, the paper compares the tourism circle, tourism belt and tourism cooperation area based on spatial organization. Finally, the author makes a prospect of the trends of regional tourism cooperation in the future.
