Abstract  From the view of genetic principle, inland river basin is composed of the mountain-oasis-desert system (MODS). Competitive unification based on the process of the hydrologic cycle decides the scale and intension of the material cycle, energy flowing, and information transmission. The structure is the key to ensure the effective combination, efficient transformation, and high-quality feedback of material and energy in inland basin, to realize such structure-function body and advance its coupling and upgrading in the respects of time and space. So the three heterogeneous kinds of system's coupled effect will effectively give out the ecological potential energy of composite ecological system, and generate the better ecological coupled efficiency among society, economy and environment. Because the energy analysis theory and method can provide the systematic theory and method for the study on the ecologic coupling relations and coupling function of MODS, it will converse the different property's energy into the same quality, monitor comparability's energy, and make the various levels and kinds of energy calculation, contrast and analysis. It provides the theory framework and method system at the coupling level for evaluating the structure and function of system, exploring the implementing approach and behavior rules of the eco-economy. The article chooses the series of energy index to unify and quantitatively calculate the different kinds of ecological flow. It is concluded that mountain is the "material flow high area" while the desert is the "energy flow high area" of the MODS ecologic coupling. The oasis is the "Information flow high ground" of the MODS ecologic coupling, and is also the pitch point and core of the energy flow, material transformation and information transmission on MODS ecologic coupling, controlling the energy transfer efficiency and the direction of MODS ecology coupling and initially obtaining the MODS ecology coupling mechanism model through the ecology energy analysis.
