Abstract  Under the guidance of the new humanistic approach, the paper deconstructed the concept and elements of living space in urban communities. It found that the living space of city communities was short of the humanistic framework and supporting elements in the light of quality improvement of the urban living space. In the development of urban social space system, the cities' resources, community resources, community type and place system are the most basic factor of affecting the structure of living space in urban communities. Community resources and urban resources shows the layout of "point-axis" binding mode in the interior space of a city. City resources, as the state of layout of linear space system and community resources, and place, as the state of structure of a dot map of space, embeds in a city's space which is constituted by the economic space, social space, cultural space. The structure of living space in urban communities has "gathering-broken" evolutionary tendency under the control of the law of the market economy, but lack of spatial justice. In order to provide the theories of the urban development and planning better, the authors summarizes that the just structure mode of the living space of urban community under the new humanism has the main characteristics of social impartiality, spatial justice, the protection of dignity and value of respect.
