Abstract

Because of the rapid development of cities and their important positions in regional economic development, economic ties between cities become stronger and have a characteristic of network, and develop in a new way. As a result, related space economic ties and the optimization of regional organization are concerned by many researchers. Regional economic ties can strengthen or weaken spatial differences, accelerate dynamic change of regional spatial pattern. Current researches on regional characteristics and differences are insufficient in regional spatial economic ties, especially in urban agglomeration. "Space economic ties" has become one of the most important research areas in economic geography and regional research. The spatial pattern of urban economic development can be explored through economic ties between cities. In recent years, researches on regional economic ties provide theoretical base and research paradigms for economic ties in urban agglomeration. Social network analysis (SNA) is mainly used to describe characteristics of the relationships between organizations, to determine the type of the relationships, and to explore the flow of information, as well as to analyze the impacts of relationships on the network which is a method to analyze structure morphology and property pattern of network. This paper, based on the SAN, analyzes the network characteristics of space economic in the city belt of Wanjiang with the gravity model which aims to describe the strength of spatial interaction, and proposes optimization direction of space economic ties. The results show that (1) in terms of the network density, the network density of the whole economic ties is not high; (2)with cohesive subgroup analyze, the authors find that there are four subgroups in the network, the connection between Wuhu and Ma'anshan is the closest one, and then other cities and Hefei, but few in the fringe-area cities. Finally, the authors combine network characteristic of space economic ties, and put forward some optimal path of the space economic ties and provide the optimization direction of city belt in Wanjiang.
