Abstract This paper attempts to take Xi'an transportation network data as the data source, use a GIS spatial analysis techniques, choose road density, road service index, the road network connectivity and reachability, study the road network system combining with the road and the node of the city of Xi'an, then analyses Xi'an transportation network spatial form, spatial distribution, distance relationship, and on this basis, to build a comprehensive evaluation index, analyze the four level road network accessibility status quo. The results indicate that:1) In terms of road density, the highest areas are the city center and high-tech zones, followed by the eastern suburbs and northern suburbs, which are focused on the future development, the region with the lowest road densities, is located in the northwest and northeast where distribute a large number of rural areas.2) In terms of services index, high value area are add with a few more old industrial zones established after the founding of the Republic.3) In terms of the road network connectivity, High value areas of road density merged to form a single high-value area.4) In terms of the reachability, spatial accessibility presents a single center, descending from the center to the periphery, and time accessibility is affected by high-grade roads significantly The accessibility in the center regional is best, and in the north, west, southwest, south and east, this five direction get a lesser extent of decreasing accessibility. Center regional gathered many high-class road, the road network control action is more prominent. Construction of rapid urban periphery ring road Should be strengthen, which is conducive to the balanced development of urban spatial pattern. For the center regional, the focus is to strengthen the management, using the second-class roads and branch street to divert the traffic flow. Research on Xi'an transport network optimization and expansion have some guidance on the urban traffic network layout and accessibility analysis and evaluation for a certain improvement.
