Abstract  Information communication technology is not only an important driving force for the development of contemporary cities, but also of a profound impact on the spatial behavior of urban residents. Based on the analysis of relevant domestic and overseas literatures, combining with urban geography frameworks and urban spatial research frameworks, this paper performs analysis and reviewing from five aspects:Urbanization, urban system, urban activity space (including urban shopping space, urban leisure space and urban living space), virtual space and physical space, and smart city. Furthermore, information communication technologies are of great influence on urban systems and the urban spatial structures in the way of changing mobilities and proximity. At the same time, based on virtual space and physical space, the mechanism of urban space and spatial behaviors of residents under the background of information communication technology is constructed. Under the influence of information and communication technology, the spatial mechanism of city-countryside, city-city and city-region has undergone profound changes. ICT provides power for urbanization through the optimization and upgrading of urban industrial structure, and its path can be divided into industrial informatization and main informatization. With the advancement of new urbanization, the elimination of urban-rural dual structure and the improvement of urbanization quality have become important aspects of urbanization construction, and ICT has also become a key factor in the process of urbanization. Furthermore, the flow space established around the information and communication technology has changed the way of regional and urban connection, and further changed the structure of regional urban functional system. The urban system has undergone scale interactive reconstruction at different levels. On the one hand, the twoway and jumping network flow intensifies; On the other hand, the concept of global city based on global town network is emerging.
