Abstract A city is a district where a large population live and manifold socio-economic activities are under way in compact communities. It is a cardinal principle in the layout of various enterprises or facilities to meet the manifold needs of the people. The exposition in this treatise puts emphasis on the analysis of the ralation, both mutual attraction and mutual exclusion. between the urban population distribution and the commercial network layout in the city of Tianjin.
