This paper analyzed the Cause of the poor aresa in China. It points out that the Help-the-Poor Development has made great progress since 1983, and the poor areas are under a new challenge in te conditions of establishing the socialist market economy. It advances China's anti-poverty strategy to be carried over to the next century.
