Abstract The paper regarded the industrial development in Tumen river area as either an ad-vancement process of local industries in the region or a process of economic growth of China, Russia and DPRK as well as the international cooperation in Northeast Asia. Therefore, it discussed the conditions and potentials for regional development, put fore-ward the principles to adjust local industries, indicated the key industries the region should have and the spatial distribution patterns of the industries.
