Abstract The paper, in a form of the combination of words and figures, visually argued the dynamic trends of the exploitation of Tumen river, the functions of the region as an international center of goods flow and a transport pivot, the spatial procsess of industrial development, a primary design of the population distribution and the evolution of the urban system in the area.
