THE LANDSCAPE EVOLUTION OF SHENYANG CITY AND ITS DRIVING FACTORS |

Abstract The urban landscape distribution of 1950's, 1970's, 1980's and 1990's in Shenyang and its driving factors were analyzed in this paper. The author thin ks that industrial development population increase, national policy, political-economic transformation and the guidance ideas of urban planning can lead to the landscape evolution of a city.
In 1950', the build-up had an area of 116.89 km2. There were 7 landscape districts, which were northern special landscape districts, northern resident and culture landscape district, Tiexi industry landscape district, Tiexi resident landscape district, central resident landscape district, eastern resident landscape district and northeastern industry landscape district. The number of districts was small. And the road corridors between different districts were few.In 1970', the build-up had an area of 157.78 km2. And the city expanded toward Yuhong, Lanjuntun, Ertaizi and Nanhu at 2.04 km2 per year. The function of the city was increasingly improved. Yuhong storage landscape district and Nanhu science, technology and resident district primarily formed.In 1980', the build-up had an area of 1 70.06 km2. The city expanded at 2.90 km2 per year. 12 landscape districts had formed. In 1990's, the build-up expanded toward north. The function of different landscape districts further strengthened. The build-up had an area of 198.41km2.
