MEASURE THE COORDINATION OF CITY BENEFITAND CITY SCALE IN THE PAN-YANGTZE RIVER DELTA |

Abstract Under the macro background of developing "new normal" economy and constructing the Yangtze River Economic Zones, the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Region is gradually becoming one of the most dynamic region to support China's economic development. The study choose cities at prefecture level and above in the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Region in 2003 and 2013 as study cases, measure comprehensive developing level of city benefit and city scale based on the entropy method, then calculate the coupling coordination degree of them, to reveal the coordinated development characteristics of city benefit and city scale, the results show that: The city benefit of the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Region has been overall elevated and the city scale has been expanding simultaneously; The coupling coordination degree of city benefit and scale increased integrally, and the differences between cities is narrowing, the coordination degree of whole region changed from inharmonious recession type to harmonious development type: the distribution pattern of harmonious development type changed from "arrow-head" in 2003 to "N shape" in 2013, the numbers of inharmonious recession type changed from 19 down to 12. Finally, it apply the quadrant diagram classification method to analyze the development relationship of city benefit and city scale in the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Region, discover that: the cities which benefit ahead of scale mainly distributed in Zhejiang province, east Anhui, central Jiangsu and coastal region of east Jiangsu, the cities which scale ahead of benefit mainly distributed in the north Anhui,West Anhui and north Jiangsu.
