SPATIAL EVOLUTION OF AIR-RAIL INTEGRATED TRANSPORT HUB AREA: THE CASE OF SHANGHAI HONGQIAO HUB |

Abstract The air-rail integrated transportation hub is a comprehensive transportation hub that organically integrates the aviation hub and high-speed rail hub together. It has a strong economic and social leading role, which has an important impact on the evolution of regional space. At present, the construction of the air-rail integrated transportation hub area is undergoing rapid development. Studying the spatial evolution characteristics of this type of area has both a strong reality and an active role in accelerating the accumulation of basic theories. Based on the Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory, the paper selects Shanghai Hongqiao integrated transportation hub area as a case study area, and analyzes the phased spatial evolution characteristics of air-rail integrated transportation hub area. The results show that:1) The regional system in the hub area is a non-equilibrium and dynamic evolution system. 2) The evolution of the regional system in the integrated transportation hub area can be divided into three stages. 3) The Shanghai Hongqiao integrated transportation hub area shows different development characteristics in the three stages of spatial formation, spatial growth, and spatial emergence.
