Abstract Specialized villages win by specialization and are known for their specialties. They are an important engine for solving the problems of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and play an important role in promoting the realization of rural revitalization. Through combing through the research results of specialized villages in China from 2013 to 2022, we found that:The research contents are diversified, mainly including the concept of specialized villages, the motivation of their emergence, the relationship with geographic environment, the law of evolution, professional development, transformation and upgrading, and their role in rural revitalization. The research perspectives integrate economics, sociology, geography and other disciplines and their theories, showing the integration of multiple disciplines and the combination of multiple theories. The research methods are diverse and extensive, mainly quantitative analysis, and most of them adopt geographic analysis and mathematical modeling methods. There is still a need for strengthening in the following areas:Study the resilience level and adaptability of specialized villages, formulate countermeasures to improve the integrity, synergy and stable development of the internal system of specialized villages, and help understand the high-quality development of specialized villages and specialized villages, the relationship between rural revitalization.
