SPATIAL ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF EXPRESSWAY FLOWS IN GUANGDONG PROVINCE UNDER THE BACKGROUND OF“HUNDREDS-THOUSANDS-MYRIADS” |

Abstract The "High-Quality Development Project of Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns, and Myriads of Villages" is an important practice in Guangdong to achieve high-quality development and to explore the path of Chinese-style modernization. Guided by the theory of network externality, this study focuses on the county areas of Guangdong province, and uses big data from the highway networked toll collection system to analyze the spatial flow law of traffic flow elements through complex network modeling and geographically weighted ridge regression. The study highlights the following observations: 1) Overall, the scale of traffic flow between counties in Guangdong Province is relatively small, leading to a low network density of 0.7534. 2) From a spatial perspective, the transportation links between counties are loose. 3) GWRR regression analysis reveals that the added value of the tertiary industry and the resident population are primary factors influencing the economic development of Guangdong.
