ON EXTENSIBILITY OF TOURIST RESOURCES AND ITS EPISTEMOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE |

Abstract Throughout the history in China and abroad, there appeared beautiful or magnificent landscapes from dynasty to dynasty, many of which had been visited by many of its descendants. However, people have got some idea of tourist resources so late that we could realized the sharp difference in depth and width of tourist activities between today and yesterday. Now, researchers have some common in some internal and exterior characteristics of tourist resources. On one hand, its internal characteristics refer to immovability, non-renewability, ecological endowment, reutilization, frangibility and etc; On the other hand, its exterior characteristics refer to variety, timeliness, economical and cultural tendencies and etc. Due to the inducement and barrier of the internal and exterior features of tourist resources, there appearing innovative phenomenon continuously in the development of tourist resources, which subsequently result in the recognition of another feature of tourist resource-the extensibility.Whereas, this paper tries make it clear that tourist resources have been endowed with extensive advantages in type versus category, function versus value and structure versus association. Only by means of the extensibility of tourist resource, can the exploitation and plan of tourist resources, originality of tourist project and design of tourist products open up a fresh outlook, and further to benefit for the integration of tourist resources, differential development of tourist sites and innovation of tourist products. In brief, the paper has realized the extensibility of tourist resources based on the typical cases of the exploitation and plan of tourist resources in China. Then it introduces the ideas of extenics to the use of tourist resources and explains how to improve the attractiveness of tourist resources through its extensibility. Therefore, in terms of epistemology, the phenomenon of the practices of extensibility of tourist resources ahead of its recognition represents not only the interaction between the unlimitness of innovation and the limitness of resources, but the "blindness" of extensibility's limitness and forgettery.
