Abstract:As an important sort of tourism destinations, a resort depends on attractive landscapes and environment in addition to self-contained facilities and services. It is very important to design resorts, to keep physical environment attractive and to keep resort functions effective based on the concepts of landscape ecology. Except for the above benefits, the landscape-designing of resorts helps to protect environment and resources. Landscape eco-designing is the key factor of success of resort development. So, landscape eco-designing is very important in the processes of resort planning, designing and developing. This paper, beginning with the analyses of physical components and functional elements of resort, discusses resort landscape eco-designing theories, principles, goals and approaches of artificial patches, natural patches and corridors. The landscape eco-designing of man-made patches focuses on the following aspects:keeping architectures in harmony with surroundings, controlling the height and density of man-made buildings, maintaining the special characteristics and visual integrity of artificial patches, and contriving artificial matters from the perspective of landscape product. The landscape ecodesigning of natural patches should emphasize on spacious green patches for outdoor recreational programs and relaxing places. The landscape eco-designing of corridors should keep in mind that introducing gateway, inner itineraries and landscape effects are in their optimum and are designed according to Chinese ancient garden principles.
