ON THE MOBILE TRANSACTION MODE OF PEASANTS IN ZHEJIANG AND ITS RURAL ECONOMIC MODERNIZATION——A Case Study Based on Houle Village, Yiwu of Zhejiang Province

Abstract：Generally, modernization theory characterizes Chinese rural modernization as an exogenous type. So the outside pattern, the introduction of institution, the external funds and technology are of great importance. However, the economic development in Houle village shows a different view. As an ordinary agricultural village, having no resource and geography advantage and having no outside funds and technology, Houle Village took the lead in achieving modernization with a spontaneous mechanism. Viewing from the process of economic modernization of Houle village, it was achieved in the incessant transition of mobile transaction s, that is, from unstable dicker exchange to stable market exchange, then to family industrial production. Viewing from the development logic, there's a tight relation between the mobile transaction and the economic modernization of Houle village. The mobile transaction had been providing market information, experience, capital accumulation and practical strategy for economic endogenetic factor of modernization. The openness and expandingness of the mobile transaction as well as the natural advancing characteristics of the economic modernization presented the endogenesis nature. From the cultural point of view, the economic development of Houle village is an outcome of the mobile transaction, as it becomes a special kind of cultural capital to reproduce doubly. On the one hand, the reproducing of cultural capital promoted the transition of business mode of Houle village. On the other hand, the cultural capital continuously expanded reproduction, thus converting itself into economic capital.
