Abstract:Due to the impossibility of getting a complete statistical data of early tourism economy in China, it's hard to do a thoroughly mathematical analysis on the whole developing process of Chinese tourism economy. And such an thorough statistical analysis on the developing history and rule of Chinese tourism is a foundation to make further researches on the developing status and trend of the key elements of the tourism industry. Authors, therefore, choose Lintong county of Xi'an, a well-known tourist attraction and one of a few tourist areas which provide respectively integral datas since the founding of new China, as a typical case to do non-linear growth analysis. The analysis in this paper provides valuable data and information for the long-period developing research on China tourism, especially tourism data analysis on Huaqing Hot Spring from 1953-1977 and tourism crisis researches during the growing process of Lintong tourism in 50 years.
With statistical tourism data of recent 50 years, this paper makes an analysis on non-linear growing process and stages of Lintong tourism. The conclusion shows: 1) The developing process of a toursit area is conditioned by the macro-economic policies of a country. Tourism growth of Lintong is a miniature of China's tourism;2) From 1953-1977, Lintong tourism developed mainly in one scenic spot, Huaqing Hot Spring, in a disorder and spontaneous state, at a low level with small scale and low benefit, with great fluctuations and even some intermitting. In this early development stage, political and economic environments of the whole country were the main factors to affect the tourism activities and the tourism economy was not industrialized, Lintong's statistical datas showed the immense influence of political and economic events on tourism, so it could be looked as an indicator and response of regional tourism developing to early Chinese tourism;3) From 1978-2005, Lintong tourism came into a new rising stage. Qin's Terro-cotta Museum caused a structure change of tourist resources and products and became a main attraction in place of Lishan Mountain and Huaqing Hot Spring. In this period, tourism resources and products were the key competitive elements to the market;4) Long-period growing process of Lintong tourism during 53 years shows that, political and economic policy reforming and discovery of new tourist resources and products are two key factors which restrict and affect the development of county tourist areas.
