Abstract:Micro-level analysis of rural household's investment behaviors is important in understanding the relationship between investment behaviors and regional development environment in rural areas, particularly in the mountainous and hilly region. This paper is based on a survey of eight towns of Gongyi in August 2000. By analyzing the investment ratio of the rural households based on survey data, the results are as follows. 1) Regional development environment influences the rural household's investment behaviors to a certain extent, but it is different in degree and path, and the influence of economy environment is more direct than social environment; 2)With the developing of economy and social conditions, the influence of economy environment is decreasing on rural household's investment, the influence of social environment is increasing, and the effect of cultural system on rural household's investment is stronger than income level of rural households; 3)There is an evident difference in various regional development environment that rural household's investment inclination is stronger and investment structures are more complicated at a higher economic and social level.; 4)Market failures have feeble effect on rural household's investment, especially in the mountainous and hilly region. But in better economic condition, regional feature of rural household's investment is more obvious. Based on the analysis above, some measures of strengthening rural household's investment ability and rural development should be taken.
