Abstract Huangpu river aquatic tourism system is the core subsystem of Shanghai metropolis tourism system, scenic water system of oriental water metropolis, and Huangpu river tourism system. Huangpu river is aimed to be a famous world-class scenic spot which is to enjoy high reputation at home and abroad. It is necessary to follow the general planning and systematic exploitation principles. The article points out the current issue of Huangpu river aquatic tourism system. The problems existed at present are mostly caused by lack of harmony and banance among factors of whole system. The article gives the conception of "big aquatic tourism", analyzes the characteristics of aquatic tourism comparing with terrestrial tourism.
