Abstract With the rapid development of science and technology, the lifestyle of children in cities changes from static to dynamic and their physical fitness is appeared a downward trend. All of these relate to the reduction of children's outdoor physical activity. This paper systematically summarizes the progress of research, select Huaqingjiayuan neighborhood in Beijing as a typical example. This paper uses methods of structured questionnaires and observation, combined with GIS software to analyze the influences of children's outdoor physical activity from the aspects of mixed land use state, commercial type and detail design in this particular community. Summarize characteristics of the environment, which are mixed with multiply functions includes residential, commercial, office, educational such as cram school and recreational facilities like gym and swimming pool, bringing different kinds of people into community who have different ages, careers, and purposes to limit the activity area for children. The main conclusions of this paper are:(1) mixed land use neighborhood can promote neighborhood sociability so that increase opportunities for children's outdoor physical activity;(2) Toy store, stationery shop, commercial shops set next to the activity spaces can increase the subsidiary function of neighborhood outdoor space, so that it can increase the duration of children's outdoor activity and have a positive impact on children's outdoor physical activity.
