Abstract  The social and cultural change research on tourism destinations is always a hot point overseas. This paper introduces the progress of the theories and methods in this field. The literatures in the field are very multifarious which involves a lot of subjects including anthropology, sociology, geography, economics,management. The social and cultural change researches perspective on tourism destination are multivariate and launched by the means of tourist, community, tourism industry, and the interaction between the globalization and localization. The theories on community reaction mode are also a important field in the social and cultural change research, which include host-guest relation theory, acculturation theory, social exchange theory, social representation theory, community tourism theory, integrated rural tourism theory, etc. It points out the trend and research turn in the foreign tourism research field of social cultural impact. The first is tourism mobility and tourism performance turn. Tourism is a form of mobility. Spaces and places across the globe are produced, connected and negotiated through the apparently ever increasing mobility of people, capital, commodities, objects, technologies, information, texts, signs, images, experiences and so on. The social and cultural change of tourism destinations is the process of cultural innovation and production. The process is creative destruction that innovation is the dominant power,and the tourism stakeholders connect,coordinate, compromise,structure through the tourism network. So that the social and cultural change on tourism destinations present innovation, destruction, innovation,destroy steady process. The last is a nonlinear and complex turn. The original various linear models have not adapt to the society with various unforeseeable factors. Entrepreneurship has constantly creative destruction to continuous break balance, promoting tourism nonlinear development and evolution.
