Abstract  Place is the key study issue in human geography. With the trend of cultural turns in human geography and the space turns in social science, little attention were paid on the temporal-spatial change of place, especially the place culture, and its operational mechanism. Based on the place theory and the place attachment theory, the structural relationship model was built to analyze the effect relationship and the operational mechanism of the residents' cultural attachment in ethnic tourism villages by taking Xijiang Miao village group in Guizhou as an example. The results were shown as follows:1)The path coefficients among the residents' perceived benefits and costs with cultural attachment is distinct in different stages and regions. 2)Cultural dependence has significant effect on cultural identity in these three temporal-spatial stages and regions. 3)Cultural dependence has positive effect on residents' cultural attitude and action in rapid stage-core region, and non-significant effect in eager stage-transition region and exploration stage-marginal region; Cultural identity has positive effect on residents' cultural attitude and action in these three temporal-spatial stages and regions. 4)The main driving force of the residents' cultural attachment in temporal-spatial change is the place disembedding which resulted by the place separation of time and space under the tourism impact.
