Abstract:Regional transport accessibility is the combination of accessibility to the intra-regional nodes and the extra-regional nodes. Transport network plays an important role in regional development, and the comprehensive indicator in evaluating the network traffic situation is regional transport accessibility. The main transport modes in Shaanxi Province are highway, railway and aircraft. Taking Shaanxi Province as an example, the author uses the weighted average travel times index to evaluate the county-level transport accessibility to intra-regional nodes, train stations, main roads and airports. The result shows that, in terms of accessibility to intra-regional nodes, the best region to Xi'an and its surrounding counties is the one whose accessibility value is below 100min; the better region radiates along the highway; the accessibility value of the counties in Northeast, and Northwest Shaanxi and the Southeast of South Shaanxi is the lowest. As to accessibility to railway station, most parts in Guanzhong are above middle-level and the poorest places are in north and west parts of counties in Northern Shaanxi. Regarding the accessibility to highway, Guanzhong is better than North Shaanxi. As to the accessibility to airport, the regions near Xi'an Xianyang International Airport are the best, and the remote areas in North and South Shaanxi are the worst; with regard to the accessibility in general, it is poor in Northeast and Northwest counties of North Shaanxi, and it is the best in Xi'an and its surrounding counties. The study of transport accessibility indicates that the accessibility of Shaanxi province is uneven. Therefore, the Shaanxi Transportation Administration should give the first priority to improving the balance of regional transport accessibility in order to narrow the gap between North Shaanxi, South Shaanxi and Guanzhong Plain.
